The latest northeast Wisconsin weather forecast from Storm Team 5…
Winter is not losing it’s grip on the state of Wisconsin just yet, as we are anticipating two separate impactful winter weather events tonight through Monday next week, the biggest impact coming this weekend.
The weather will be nice ahead of this evening’s snow showers – plan on sunshine and seasonal highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Snow will kick in around 7pm or later Thursday evening once the sun goes down. Snow will be the most persistent across the north, while southern sections will turn from snow to rain as the night wears on. That will cut snow totals in that region. Snow or a rain/snow mix will continue Friday morning, and in some spots Friday afternoon.
While this storm spirals around Wisconsin, it will produce strong winds late tonight into Friday morning. Winds could gust upwards of 40 to 50 miles per hour at times during this window, creating another travel impact along with the falling precipitation. Power outages also possible with winds that strong.

The next system is expected to make an even bigger impact on the state, including all of northeast Wisconsin, and may be one of those snow events that we remember long into the future. What we know so far is that the timing will be Saturday night through Monday. Computer forecast models that show data that far out are hinting at a HIGH LIKLIHOOD of 12″ of snow or more, plus consistent winds that could reach blizzard criteria. Plan on significant travel impacts on Sunday into Monday, and possible impacts to the start of school and work early next week.
Ways to prepare for the weekend: Keep updated with trustworthy weather information as it comes in. Get the snowblower out of hiding, and fill up gas cans before the snow begins Saturday night. Make appropriate changes to travel plans or appointments, as necessary. Prep your car with warm clothes, a shovel, and other winter emergency items if you do plan on leaving the house.
