(WFRV) – Wisconsin’s outdoor life is well-known by many and loved by Wisconsinites, especially when you get a chance to see a rare species in a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) shared a video from Alexander Streitz, one of their biologists, who was tracking American Martens.

American Martens are a rare and statewide endangered species that need the mature forests of the Northwoods to survive.
“I observed the mustelid on the road and got out to see if I could see where it had gone, only to hear it had run up the large aspen tree near the road and was vocalizing at me,” Streitz said.
