EGG HARBOR, Wis. (WFRV) – An early morning fire in Door County caused an estimated $20,000 in damage Monday, according to authorities.
The Egg Harbor Fire Department was dispatched shortly after 4 a.m. to the 5000 block of Alpen Lane for a report of a bedroom fire with occupants evacuating the home.

The Door County Sheriff’s Office arrived first and located flames on the exterior of the residence. A deputy used a fire extinguisher from a patrol vehicle to knock down most of the fire before firefighters arrived.
Crews then applied approximately 20 gallons of water to extinguish remaining hot spots. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire extension inside the home and completed overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. Occupants were alerted by working smoke detectors near the master bedroom. No injuries were reported.
All units cleared the scene shortly before 5:45 a.m.
