(WFRV) – Wisconsin Emergency Management announced that the state’s annual tornado drill will take place in mid-April.
According to a release, the annual Wisconsin Statewide Tornado Drill will begin at 1:45 p.m. on April 16, with another at 6:45 p.m. that day, when sirens sound as a test to ensure proper safety procedures are in place in the event of a real tornado.

Important notes from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association are as follows:
- No mock tornado warnings will be issued
- No wireless emergency alerts will be sent
- In the event of real severe weather threats on April 16, the drills will be April 17
- If severe weather is expected on the backup date, the drills will be canceled
Officials encourage people to practice safety skills and stay in touch with community members and others to know the safest spaces in the event of a real tornado.
