OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Led by a team of Leadership Oshkosh alumni, a new community-wide literacy campaign is kicking off in READ MORE Oshkosh.
With March being National Reading Month, there is no better time for a community-led literacy campaign. READ MORE Oshkosh is dedicated to promoting reading, strengthening literacy skills, and fostering a lifelong love of learning for children, families, and adults throughout the Oshkosh community.
Officials with the campaign sat down with Local 5’s Stacy Engebretson on Off the Desk to discuss the purpose of the campaign and how it got started.

Officials say the campaign aims to “bring together schools, libraries, nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders to unite literacy efforts, increase access to books and resources, and encourage reading at home and in the community.”
READ MORE Oshkosh is led by Dr. Samuel Coleman, Darryl Eschete, and Trina Woldt. The campaign was born out of discussions during last year’s Leadership Oshkosh Education Day.
“Seeing the excitement of the community for a revival of interest in reading and the written word does my librarian’s heart good; I truly believe that a literate community is a functional community and that reading truly makes better lives,” said Darryl Eschete, Executive Director of the Oshkosh Public Library.
