MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – The Manitowoc Warming Shelter is set to host its second annual Coldest Night of the Year event later this month, inviting community members to walk in support of those experiencing hunger, hurt or homelessness.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, and is part of a nationwide movement held in more than 300 cities and towns across North America. Organizers say tens of thousands of participants will walk the same evening to raise funds for local charities that provide food, shelter and support.

“Our second annual Coldest Night of the Year is a powerful reminder that no one should face the cold alone,” said Pastor Matt Sauer, executive director of the Manitowoc Warming Shelter. “As we walk, every step becomes an act of hope, helping ensure warmth, dignity and care for those most at risk. We are thankful for a community that shows up, even when it’s cold out there.”
Registration, donation and volunteer information is available through the Manitowoc Warming Shelter.
