MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say an armed man was arrested near a campus bus stop in Wisconsin following an altercation Tuesday afternoon.
According to a release from the UW-Madison Police Department, officers responded at 1:55 p.m. to the intersection of West Johnson Street and East Campus Mall for reports of someone making threats towards another person near the bus stop.

Officials say the suspect in the matter and the victim were riding the bus and exited at the same bus stop. A verbal altercation took place near the bus stop, with the suspect being said to have displayed a gun he was carrying and making verbal threats towards the victim.
As officers responded to the scene, the suspect threw the gun into a nearby trashcan. The gun was quickly recovered by UWPD and 46-year-old Marcus Morgan from Madison was arrested without any further incident.
Police say Morgan is not affiliated with UW-Madison, and he was taken to and booked into the Dane County Jail on the following tentative charges:
- Disorderly conduct while armed
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Resisting or obstructing an officer
With a rapid response and the situation being resolved quickly, authorities report that a campus-wide WiscAlert was not issued. No other information about the incident is available at this time.
