MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – Two police officers in Wisconsin are on administrative duty after a fatal shooting of a 38-year-old suspect on Tuesday evening.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop around 4:49 p.m. at Fond du Lac Avenue and West Locust Street for a registration violation, and the suspect, a 38-year-old man, stopped initially but fled shortly after.
Officers pursued the suspect vehicle, but the man stopped and got out of the vehicle, fleeing on foot while reportedly holding a gun. The release said the officers repeatedly ordered the man to drop his gun; however, he refused to do so.
Upon refusing to fire, officers reportedly fired their guns at him and recovered his weapon. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries. A passenger in the vehicle also fled on foot during the pursuit, and officials are seeking information on them.

The officers involved are a 46-year-old man with 10+ years of service and a 40-year-old man with 8+ years in the force, and both will be placed on administrative duty per policy.
Officials say that videos relating to the incident will be released.
