WOLF RIVER, Wis. (WFRV) – On Sunday afternoon, deputies recovered the body of a missing man from a Winnebago County body of water.
According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were initially called to the Bay Lane Boat Launch in the Town of Wolf River around 4:35 p.m. on Saturday. The caller reported that a man was in distress in the water.
Deputies were able to rescue the man and take him to a local hospital for treatment. However, during contact with the “involved vessel and its occupants,” deputies learned that a second man was ‘unaccounted’ for and was believed to have still been in the water.

The Winnebago County Dive/Rescue Team, Drone Team, and several area fire departments immediately began search efforts.
The next day, in the early afternoon hours, crews were able to find the missing man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation.
