STEPHENSON, Mich. (WFRV) – The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan said on Thursday that it had deputies providing support to a federal operation led by the Department of Homeland Security.
According to the release, the Department of Homeland Security was among eight federal agencies that sent representatives to the area. The reported investigation was at multiple locations affiliated with Forte’ Industries Inc. in Stephenson.

“The role of the Sheriff’s Office was strictly limited to providing a local law enforcement presence and assisting in maintaining peace and order during the operation. Deputies were present solely in a support capacity and did not participate in the investigation itself.”

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office said that it was not involved in any actual investigative proceedings. According to the release, the investigative and enforcement actions will be handled exclusively through the federal agencies.
